    4. They will then receive a SMS with a link to a mobi-site.

    2. Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD)

    USSD lines are a text-based form of mobile marketing that allows real-time communication and does not require an internet connection to work. All responses on the USSD line are also recorded and stored, providing insight into the behaviour and wants of the consumer.

    How does USSD marketing work?

    1. The consumer will see the promotion in store/online.
    2. The consumer will then have to purchase a qualifying product/s to be eligible to enter the competition.
    3. After purchasing the consumer will dial the unique number on the till slip or the last 4 digits of their barcode.
    4. A list of questions will appear one by one prompting the consumer to interact and answer in order to be entered into the competition.

    As one of the most widely used apps in South Africa companies are tapping into the power of WhatsApp marketing. This popular mobile marketing channel allows businesses to reach wide range of audiences quickly through text, video, images and more.

    How does WhatsApp marketing work?

    1. The consumer will see the promotion in store.
    2. The consumer will then have to purchase a qualifying product/s to be eligible to enter this competition.
    3. After purchasing the product/s, the user will submit an image of their till slip and start chatting on WhatsApp.
    4. They will answer the relevant questions and can be instantly rewarded and entered into the competition.

    4. Mobi-sites

    Mobi-sites are websites that are specifically designed for mobile devices and are used as landing pages for mobile marketing campaigns. Consumers are diverted to the mobi-site in a multitude of ways including SMS marketing and through QR codes.

    3. After purchasing the product/s, the consumer will either click through to the mobi-site via a link or by scanning a QR code.
